Winning the Battle of Anxiety
LOOKING FOR A STORY ABOUT ANXIETY…WITH A HAPPY OUTCOME?
—Fusion Pharmacy Case Study 2019
Late last year, I had a consultation with a new patient from out of town. My patient’s family lives here in St. George and they had heard my radio ads about Amino Acid Therapy, and how Fusion Specialty Pharmacy is helping people gain back their health.
The family was experiencing what it felt like to be an outsider – helpless and frustrated as they lost their loved one to anxiety.
During a family get together, they appealed to their loved one to come see me.
MEET MY PATIENT
She is a 67-year-old woman – a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. Before her anxiety settled in and started robbing her of social connections, she loved being active with her family and friends.
Over the course of time, she slowly began to isolate herself from the world and her family.
At times…she would be completely reclusive.
UNCOVERING THE SIGN OF ANXIETY – THE FIRST VISIT
During my visit with her, she described the debilitating symptoms she was feeling.
- Excessive worry…
- Panic that something bad was going to happen…
- Fatigue combined with restlessness and trouble sleeping…
- Low and/or irregular appetite…
- Avoidance of regular social interactions…
(…and I’ll mention that she avoided being social because they triggered these symptoms and made them spiral out-of-control.)
She even completely avoided spending time with her family.
SHE WOULD RATHER HAVE HIDDEN HERSELF FROM THE WORLD
Her husband was also there for the consultation. He described feeling frustrated and at a loss as to how to help her.
At the time of the consultation, she was taking anti-anxiety medications and had tried various brands. Ultimately, they weren’t a solution.
She described how the medications, while helping in some respects, were starting to make her symptoms worse.
I also discovered that she had moderate to severe digestion problems.
To get to the root cause of her digestive issues, we discussed whether it could be the result of the stress that comes from living with anxiety, or if other factors such as poor diet, or heredity were to blame.
Note: It is worth mentioning that many of the people who come in for a consultation with me have problems with their digestive system.
The gut is fundamental to our health – physically and mentally.
When the gut is off-balance, it can throw off the absorption of nutrients, and this affects brain and organ functions. It can also cause bacterial inflammation.
Just like many of my patients, she felt as though she had tried everything, and nothing was working.
OUR NEW APPROACH TO HER DAILY REGIMEN
When I see patients, I like to discuss the importance of gut health.
While in this case, we weren’t sure if her anxiety symptoms came on because her gut health slowly started to decline or if the stress of the anxiety was the trigger; however, the one thing we both agreed on was that it was a factor in her health challenges.
Once we approached how to maintain a healthy gut, we then looked at how amino acids could be implemented to support her new health regimen.
I recommended that she start with these basic supplements:
- One Essential Amino Acid
- Two Non-Essential Acids
- CBD capsules
- Magnesium tablets
- Fish Oil
- Probiotics
- A digestive enzyme
…all to be taken daily, with meals and plenty of water.
Note: Every person is different and should be treated as such with careful and thoughtful recommendations. Because of this, her exact amino acid regimen won’t be pertinent to share.
I HAVEN’T FELT THIS GOOD IN YEARS!
After her initial 90 days on the supplements that I had recommended, we had another consultation.
During this visit, she reported: “I haven’t felt this good in years!”
Today, she is optimistic and excited for the first time in a long time.
She feels more at ease during social interactions and is actually enjoying them again. She is also less burdened with worry.
Overall, she told me that she felt more in control of her physical and mental health.
She also said that she had discontinued taking the anti-anxiety medication. (Please note that I strongly advise all of my patients to consult with their doctor before discontinuing any prescribed drug therapy.)
Of course, I am thrilled for her, as are her husband and family! As time goes on, she and I will continue working on her journey to break free of her anxiety. We will also continue to help her maintain a healthy gut.
It’s cases like these where I am truly grateful to be able to help people see another side to taking better care of their health.
WHY I FOCUS ON AMINO ACIDS
It is now a widely known fact that what we eat and how we eat in the US has radically changed during the past 50 years. We tend to rely on processed foods, and most Americans don’t eat balanced meals like our predecessors did.
We also know that our foods are often depleted of vital nutrients. This is partly because food is grown quickly to meet demand…and pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides are constantly being used by Big Food growers.
On top of all this, we’ve got too many genetically-modified foods. Our food supply chain a big mess.
In the course of my pharmacological research, I have found that many of the amino acids required for cell growth and function are either missing or non-existent from the very sources we need them most – our food.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT AMINO ACIDS ARE MISSING?
During an amino acid consultation, every new patient does a simple assessment questionnaire.
Based on the answers given and the symptoms you are experiencing, I can then make the best recommendation.
FREE ADVICE: Amino acids are not drugs. They do not require a prescription. Amino Acid Therapy can be adjusted. Patients who are on an amino acid therapy frequently comment on their self-adjustments. The reason for this is because when a deficient amino acid is introduced to the body, it does not take long for the body to process and utilize its many benefits. This may result in a decreased need from daily to every other day, or as needed.
ANXIETY IS CRUSHING ME, WHAT CAN I DO?
Please call or come in and see me! The assessment is quick and easy, and the amino acids I carry are professional-grade and pure. My strongest advice is to be wary about buying amino acids from the internet and from vendors you don’t know!
